Tratamiento de la diabetes mellitus estable tipo 2, no dependiente de insulina, del paciente adulto sin tendencia a la cetosis y que no se controla con la dieta. Como monoterapia o en combinación con meformina.

Descripción

CONTRA-INDICACIONES:
Contraindicada en casos de hipersensibilidad a la glimepirida o a otras sulfonilureas, cetoacidosis diabética. Tampoco se recomienda su administración durante el embarazo y la lactancia. En pacientes con fiebre, infecciones, traumatismo, quemaduras,o cirugía puede ser necesario sustituirla por insulina. Ténganse precauciones en casos de disfunción hepática o renal. Interactúa con varios medicamentos como analgésicos antiinflamatorios no esteroideos, bloqueadores beta adrenérgicos y cloranfenicol, los cuales aumentan su efecto hipoglucémico; y con adrenalina, corticosteroides, diuréticos del tipo de las tiazidas, y fluoroquinolonas que disminuyen su efecto hipoglucémico. No es un sustitutivo de la insulina.
